What is web site usability?

Site usability is simply the ease with which visitors are able to use a Web site. It is not about just making sure everything on the site works, but how quickly and easily visitors are able to make use of the site.

Why should you care?

Web usability is necessary for survival. If a website is difficult to use, people leave. If your home page doesn't clearly state what your company offers and what users can do on the site, people leave. If users get lost on a website, they leave. If a website's information is hard to read or doesn't answer a visitor's key questions, they leave. A user will not spend much time trying to figure out your site structure when there are plenty of other websites available.

Rule of thumb: if users cannot find the product, they cannot buy it either.
